- June 13, 2008, 10:00 a.m.
- ARC Pavilion (formerly Recreation Hall)
Tickets
Submitting the participation confirmation information is mandatory for you to receive tickets to the College of Biological Sciences commencement ceremony. Students who wish to receive tickets must submit an online registration by April 11, 2008. Timely submission of participation information is critical to ensure that you receive your tickets. Students who submit ceremony registration information after the deadline will have their names placed on a waiting list but cannot be guaranteed tickets. Based on projected student participants, we expect each student will receive 6-8 tickets. Ticket allocation is based upon the actual number of students participating in the ceremony. Tickets will be mailed to participating students at the end of May. Information on how to obtain additional tickets (should they become available) will be included in that mailing. If you receive tickets you cannot use, you are strongly urged to return them to the College of Biological Sciences, 202 Life Sciences Addition.
Assembly
Candidates will assemble in academic dress at 9:00 a.m. at the ARC Pavilion. Specific directions for assembly will be mailed to each candidate who completes the online registration.
Order of Procession
The ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the entry of candidates and the academic procession. Degree candidates and faculty will be seated in chairs on the main floor in front of the stage.
Ceremony
The ceremony will last approximately two hours and will include short addresses by distinguished speakers, the conferring of degrees and the recessional. At the appropriate part of the program, the marshal will ask the candidates to rise for presentation to the chancellor.
After the degree is conferred, the marshal will direct the graduates to cross the stage for individual recognition. Each graduate will be presented on stage, receive congratulations and a scroll, and return to his or her seat. Print your name on the 3x5 card we will send to you, and bring it with you to the ceremony; it will be used when you are presented on the stage.
The ceremony concludes with a recessional by the stage party and faculty, followed by the graduates.
