School of Medicine Ceremony
- Saturday, June 7, 2008 - 10:00 a.m. to noon
- Robert & Margrit Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts
Assembly
Candidates for degrees will assemble alphabetically in academic dress at 9:00 a.m. in the lobby of the Mondavi Center. Faculty and stage party members will assemble at 9:30 a.m. in staging rooms inside the Mondavi Center (details will be emailed to participants prior to the event), There will be marshals and Cal Aggie Hosts to provide directions.
Order of Procession
The procession will begin promptly at 10 a.m. The order of the procession will be marshals, degree candidates, Chair of the faculty, faculty, and official stage party.
Ceremony
At the appropriate part of the ceremony, the dean will ask the candidates to rise. As each candidate moves to the stage, his or her name will be announced by the Associate Dean for Medical Education.
Candidates will then be invested with the hood. Candidates will then cross the stage to the chancellor and the dean and then return to their seats. When all degrees have been conferred, the degree recipients will stand and repeat the oath.
The ceremony will close with a recessional.

Reception
Following the ceremony, a reception will be held in the lobby of the Mondavi Center for degree recipients, their families and friends, and friends of the School of Medicine.
Gown and Hood Return
To avoid a late-return charge, gowns must be returned to the collection staff, located adjacent to the reception, immediately following the ceremony or to the UC Davis Bookstore no later than Monday, June 19. Hoods are the property of the School of Medicine and will be collected at a designated table at the reception.
