School of Law Ceremony

  • ARC Pavilion (formerly Recreation Hall)

Assembly

Candidates for degrees will assemble in academic dress by 9:30 a.m. outside the southwest entrance of the ARC Pavilion. The stage party and faculty will assemble in the Special Events Room.

Order of Procession

The order of procession will be faculty marshals, candidates and stage party.

Ceremony

The ceremony will include remarks by a student speaker, a faculty speaker and the dean; an address by the commencement speaker; the presentation of awards; and the conferring of degrees and hoods.

At the appropriate part of the ceremony, each candidate will move to the stage, be invested with the hood and then cross the stage to the chancellor and the dean. Candidates will return to their seats, and the ceremony will close with a recessional.

Reception

Following the ceremony, a reception will be held for degree recipients, their families and friends, and other friends of the School of Law.

Gown and Hood Return

To avoid a late-return charge, gowns must be returned to the collection staff outside the reception immediately following the ceremony or to the UC Davis Bookstore no later than Monday, May 19. Hoods are the property of the School of Law and will be collected at a designated table.

Tickets

Tickets are not required for the School of Law ceremony.

UC Davis students, faculty, family and friends of graduates are welcome to attend commencement ceremonies as space allows.
