Students in the College of Engineering must register to participate in the Engineering commencement ceremony online no later than April 11, 2008. To register, visit the College of Engineering Commencement website.
Admission to the Ceremony
Admission tickets are required for each guest at the College of Engineering ceremony (including infants and toddlers). Students who have registered to participate through the College of Engineering website by the April 11 deadline will receive ten guest tickets for the ceremony. Students who register after the deadline cannot be guaranteed tickets. Tickets will be mailed with a letter of instruction on May 9 to the address the candidate entered on the registration form.
If space in the ARC Pavilion permits, additional tickets will be made available. An announcement regarding the availability and distribution location of extra tickets will be in the letter of instruction that will be mailed on May 9.
University policy prohibits the selling of commencement tickets for money or commercial value. Violation will result in referral to Student Judicial Affairs.
Assembly
Candidates will assemble in academic dress inside the ARC Ballroom at 2:15 p.m. A letter containing commencement instructions will be mailed to each candidate, along with a name card. Please bring the name card to the ceremony.
Ceremony
The College of Engineering ceremony will begin promptly with the entry of candidates and the academic procession. Members of the official party will sit on stage. Candidates for degrees and faculty will be seated in chairs on the main floor facing the stage.
The ceremony, which will last approximately two hours, will include short addresses by distinguished speakers, the conferring of degrees by the chancellor and the recessional.
Each graduate will be presented on stage, receive a certificate and then return to his or her seat. You should bring the white 3 x 5 card that was mailed to you with your letter of instruction with your name clearly printed on it to be used for the presentation on stage. The ceremony concludes with a recessional by the stage party and faculty, followed by the graduates.
Specific directions for assembly will be mailed on May 9 to each candidate who registers online.
Reception
Following the ceremony, there will be an outdoor reception on the south side of Recreation Hall for graduates, their families and friends.
