College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Ceremonies
Tickets
Completing online ceremony participation confirmation is mandatory for you to receive tickets for an College of A&ES commencement ceremony. Students who wish to receive tickets must submit an online ceremony registration no later than April 11, 2008. Timely submission is critical to ensure that you receive tickets. Students who submit ceremony registration information after the deadline will have their names placed on a waiting list but cannot be guaranteed tickets. Eligible students who are in good standing, who are enrolled in the College of A&ES and who have completed at least 160 units at the conclusion of winter quarter 2007 and have submitted the ceremony online registration by the deadline will receive a minimum of six guest tickets for the ceremony in which their official major will assemble. Tickets will be mailed by May 15, 2008 to the local address of spring candidates and to the permanent address of graduates from previous degree periods.
Please plan your guest list with six tickets in mind. Every person (including infants and toddlers) attending the ceremony must have a ticket. If space in the ARC Pavilion permits, additional tickets will be made available. Information regarding ticket distribution will be included in the letter of instruction we send you in May. You are encouraged to return any tickets that will not be used to the Deans Office, 150 Mrak Hall. University policy prohibits the selling of commencement tickets for money or commercial value. Violation will result in referral to Student Judicial Affairs.
Assembly
Specific directions for assembly will be mailed to each candidate who registers online for ceremony participation. Students are eligible to participate in only one ceremony. If you have a double major, please indicate the one major with which you would like to assemble. Participants are to arrive one hour before the time of the ceremony.
Order of Procession
Each College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences ceremony will begin promptly with the entry of the marshal, the college banner carrier, the candidates, the faculty and the academic procession. Members of the official party will sit on stage. Candidates and faculty will be seated on the main floor facing the stage. Candidates will enter by major. Each major will be represented by a pennant.
Ceremony
The ceremony, approximately 2-3 hours in length, will include short addresses by distinguished speakers, the conferring of degrees and the recessional. Each graduate will be presented on stage, receive congratulations and a certificate of participation, and then return to his or her seat. You must bring the name card sent to you with your tickets. Print your name clearly on the card; it will be used for your presentation on stage. Go to Diplomas in the General Information section for information about securing your official diploma.
